LDC DOD: status and plans

Dear LDC editors,
This is an update on my current understanding on what is expected from us concerning the DOD, as it was communicated to me by the WW study co-chairs.
The WWS organising committee expects to receive from us a "final" version in four weeks - the deadline set is April 15. Of course the document will not be final final at this point, but it should be in a shape that we can with a clear conscience make it public.
The WWOC already will look at the current version, and might give us some feedback.
There is still quite a lot of work to be done, and a number of sections need still serious work. I like to propose the following schedule:
- deadline for contributions from individual subdetectors: end of March
- deadline for the final version, which might include a few iterations back and forth between the subdetector editors, editors of summary sections, and the main editors: April 7
- submission to the community and request for comments: April 7 evening
- final submission to the WWOC: April 15
To speed up the review process with the community I propose (if this has not already been done) that section editors send as soon as possible a version of their part to a selected (but inclusive) group of collegues, to get back comments from the experts in the field who are not editors. This is of particular importance in those sub systems where we are looking after several options, and should make sure that the different options see themselves represented properly.
I propose that we do have another editors phone meeting
MONDAY, March 20, 16:00 EU time (07:00 West Coast time)
by VRVS and phone (+494089981390 code 94918#)
Please let me know if this is very inconvenient for you.
By the way the DOD will be used as input to the detector DCR document, expected at the end of this year. It will be released together with a physics DCR, and the machine volume. For details on the current plans, please have a look at my talk in the Sunday afternoon plenary session, where - for the editors- discussed our current understanding of the process.
Thanks to all who have helped to bring the document so far, and looking forward to a fast convergence towards the "final" document,
Ties
